Prototyping is a necessary process for any design.
It is what determines fit and function, as well as being a vital tool when pitching to investors.
ProtoStripes is a program under the Louisiana Business & Technology Center (LBTC) at the LSU Innovation Park. The Innovation Park is a campus that provides office and lab space for startup companies and entrepreneurs to start their journey to becoming a successful company. The LBTC provides tenants and outside companies and businesses with connections to all corners of the LSU community. Depending on the client, the LBTC can refer them to professors at LSU or the dozens of LSU services and facilities that will help them develop and market their products. One of the services provided is prototyping and engineering, which is where Protostripes excels at. At the Protostripes Center, I talk to clients who have an innovative idea or concept that I transform into a prototype.

The prototyping process can be daunting, but exciting. Initial research may take some time in order to have all the background information necessary to fully grasp what purpose the prototype serves and how to design one properly so that it satisfies criteria: weight, strength, function, cost, or any requirements the client wants. I enjoy creating prototypes, as each client brings in a new, fresh idea. Having experience in not only CAD modeling, but interfacing with the clients and working on a schedule, are important skills that I exercise every time I work on a prototype. Aside from creating prototypes, I also perform design work and technical drawings at request. At Protostripes, we use Autodesk Inventor, with a Formlabs Form 2 SLA 3D printer and a Stratasys uPrint FDM 3D printer, along with an Epilog Mini laser cutter. We also provide electronics development, specifying different electrical components to work together. Additionally, I have had several projects involving micro controllers using the Arduino IDE language. I'm in charge of keeping tabs on inventory, equipment maintenance, purchasing, and budgeting.

PrototypesView the collection of prototypes I've developed in the last four years. However, the details of some prototypes cannot be disclosed due to a non-disclosure agreement with the client. I hope that seeing these prototypes can give you an idea of my abilities of CAD modeling.
